Letter to Voters
Dear Fellow Citizens of Mesquite,
I am writing to you today to introduce myself. My name is Wes Boger, and I am running for re-election to Mesquite City Council, Seat 5.
After working in the high-tech industry in the 1990’s, I started my own small business in internet retail in 2003. My wife Mekesha and I purchased a home and moved to Mesquite in 2005. We have lived here full-time ever since. When we moved here, our small business was our only source of income. It thrived through the Great Recession and is still going strong today. We have two sons, Dillon and Cole, who attend our local schools.
I feel it is my civic duty to serve Mesquite in any way I can. Over the years I have volunteered at Virgin Valley Elementary School (VVES), and was elected by parents to their School Organizational Team (SOT). I was also appointed to Mesquite's City Charter Committee. In 2019, I was asked to help constitute a new program for the Mesquite Police Volunteers called "Project Watchdog". This program gives police a presence at VVES. I was selected by the Virgin Valley Community Education Advisory Board (VV CEAB) to become an At Large member, before being elected to Mesquite City Council in 2020. I currently serve on the VV CEAB as an Ex-Officio member. Finally, I served as Mayor Pro-Tem in 2023 until March of 2024.
When I was elected to the City Council four years ago my priorities were, and continue to be Public Safety, Education, Workforce Housing, and our local Economy.
Some of the highlights during my first term on the City Council include:
•Working to ensure each public school in Mesquite has a dedicated School Resource Officer.
•Relocating a new Fire station on Mesquite Blvd to enhance downtown Mesquite, using Federal funds.
•Working on bringing a new Fire/EMS station near Sun City/Canyon Crest to reduce response times in the area.
•Collaborating to bring a high-paying manufacturing facility to Mesquite.
•Working with local developers to build several more housing options.
•Spearheading the creation of a new Redevelopment Agency to help downtown Mesquite.
•Initiating the process for the City of Mesquite to have its own radio station to provide public safety updates and community notices (expected to be on air in 2025).
Mesquite, like the rest of the country, faces an uncertain future. With the right leadership and collaboration, we can emerge in a better position. My experience gained during my first term on Council, and in the private sector makes me uniquely qualified to help lead our city through this challenge. Thank you for your support and vote. Together, we can continue to make Mesquite the best place to live, work and retire in Nevada!
Sincerely,

Wes Boger, Mesquite City Council Seat 5
